Editorial concept and publication design for Toyota’s Quiet Achiever

Toyota’s Quiet Achiever – Publication Design

A story of grit, growth and greatness. From the boy from Woop Woop to an Australian business legacy.

Stan Perron was never one for the spotlight. But behind the scenes, his vision, humility and determination shaped one of Australia’s most remarkable business journeys. From modest beginnings in Kalgoorlie to building Toyota’s presence in Western Australia and one of the largest private property portfolios in the country.

Barbitta was engaged to design and art direct a 214-page commemorative book, Toyota’s Quiet Achiever, written by John Le Cras. More than a biography, this was a historical archive. A curated journey through letters, photographs and personal reflections from those who knew and worked alongside Stan.

The design approach was respectful yet elevated. A restrained typographic system allowed the imagery (much of it never-before-seen) to take centre stage. Historical materials were carefully integrated into a flowing visual narrative, reflecting the timelessness of Stan’s values and his contribution to the legacy of Toyota WA.

The result is a deeply personal artefact, honouring the late Stan Perron.
