Price Street, Subiaco – Social Content

A film about place, memory, and the architecture of what comes next.

Price Street is more than a new address. It is a layered redevelopment shaped by some of Australia’s most thoughtful architectural studios Breathe, Nic Brunsdon, and Mala, in collaboration with the developer ADC. The architecture is grounded in sustainability, material integrity, and cultural continuity. The story of the site required the same level of care.

Barbitta was engaged alongside Swift Brown-Fox to shape the project’s lead film, as a study in place. The focus shifted from render to history, from blueprint to narrative. The result is a film that tells the story of Subiaco not just as it is, but as it has been, drawing from past industry, lived community, and the architectural legacy now being extended.

Filming took place across Melbourne and Perth, capturing both the people behind the design and the echoes of the site itself. Archival imagery was sourced to add temporal depth, offering visual context and emotional weight. The final film was edited into short-form fragments for digital rollout, each holding a distinct tone and message.

Guided by the StoryMeaning, and Form tiles of the Barbitta Mosaic™, the film favours observation over narration. Interiors are not yet built, but the intent is already present. You feel it in the light, the voices, the grain of the archival frames.
