The Pickle District – After Dark
A roving portrait of art, light, and late-night discovery.
Once a hub of industry, The Pickle District now pulses with creative energy. After Dark transforms the precinct into a walkable, immersive art experience. One night where galleries, studios, laneways, and rooftops open their doors and light up with possibility.
Barbitta was invited to take part as both exhibitor to the exterior and alleyway for our warehouse studio, whilst capturing the atmosphere of the evening, contributing to its cultural pulse. Alongside partners including Holmes à Court Gallery, Vox Lab, Linton & Kay, Fridays Studio, Backlot, DMax Cleaver, and Old Habits, the event formed a constellation of experiences across the precinct.
The film captures the unpredictability and energy of the night. Flickering light projections, live performances, art openings, and passing conversations. Shot in situ with minimal intervention, the edit preserves the organic movement of the crowd and the layered textures of the spaces themselves.
Guided by the Atmosphere, Story, and Form tiles of the Barbitta Mosaic™, the footage was shaped as a visual field note.
