Menopause Alliance Australia – Hayley’s Story
A personal account that opens the door to empathy, awareness, and change.
Told with honesty and clarity, Hayley’s Story is a deeply human portrait of resilience. At 36, Hayley was a full-time lawyer, mother, and partner, balancing career and care like so many women do. Then came an unexpected cancer diagnosis that reshaped everything, including her relationship with health, identity, and premature menopause.
Barbitta was engaged by JLCA to help bring Hayley’s voice to the forefront. The resulting film is not a campaign. It is a conversation. One that speaks to the invisible weight many women carry through life, treatment, and transition and the cultural silence that often surrounds it.
Filmed with restraint and care, the piece focuses on Hayley’s own words. There are no distractions, only presence. Her story unfolds in a way that feels grounded, not scripted. Shot in natural light with close framing, the visuals mirror the tone, warm, direct, and unfiltered.
Guided by the Story, Meaning, and Atmosphere tiles of the Barbitta Mosaic™, the film’s purpose was not just to inform, but to connect. To create space for women to feel seen, and for workplaces, families, and systems to better understand what support truly means.
Hayley’s Story is a reminder that menopause is not a moment, but a lived experience. And that awareness begins by listening.
