Hibernian Place
A living brand mosaic of movement, meaning, and modern hospitality.
In Perth’s East End, Hibernian Place isn’t just a precinct, it’s a curated rhythm of place. Anchored by the five-star Westin Perth and home to celebrated operators like Garum by Guy Grossi, Bodhi J Spa, Offshoot Coffee, and a collection of all-day bars and eateries, this destination was designed to reawaken a quieter part of the city through continuity, culture, and flow.
Rather than follow a traditional brand-to-place rollout, Barbitta approached Hibernian as a living mosaic, shaping experience through fragments of orientation, tone, texture, and story. Working alongside Swift Brown Fox, we helped map how people actually move: drawn by light, appetite, and curiosity. That insight informed the wayfinding system, not added on, but integrated into the fabric of the place. Guided by the Orientation and Atmosphere tiles of the Barbitta Mosaic™, signage became part of the spatial rhythm, quiet but confident cues that move with the human instinct.
We extended that logic into the precinct’s broader identity, defining its tone, language, and campaign expression. From street corner to menu card, every element formed part of a larger story: one that speaks to time-conscious, quality-led city dwellers who expect their environments to feel effortless yet intentional.
And like any true mosaic, a singular element gives way to something greater. A large-scale mural by Australian artist RONE, a quiet, arresting face on the Westin’s exterior, doesn’t decorate the space, it deepens it. A final gesture that reminds us: when art, space, and purpose align, design becomes memory.
